What is FatAtlas?

The vision is to get local, very - very local. Given a single point on the planet, a block, or street, or village or home - what we create is a local web. This is not the WWW as in World Wide Web, but rather the LLW or little local web. For lack of a better description this is a Local, Social, Wiki.

Local

• Discover: Every posting with a location finds all nearby postings that also have a location.
• Local: Focused on where you live, work and play
• Nearby: meters not miles, blocks not cities. What you see out your front door or can walk in a few minutes.
• Geo: Easy setting of latitude / longitude. Just use your zip code or address. No zip or address, just click on the map, anywhere on the planet.

Social

• Buddy List: You select which users content you like to track. Its like building your own personal news bureau.
• Clouds: Personal Tag Clouds that track your interests.
• Profile: You build your own personal public profile.
• Invite: Invite your friends. Find out when they join.
• Points: Contributions to the community, like posts, images, votes and invites - results in points.

Wiki

• Community editing of articles and links.
• History: Revert to edits of earlier versions of content.
• Difference: Shows and difference between versions.
• Editor: Full Editor. No HTML required, unless yow want to get fancy.

Usage

• Friends: Publish you own local newspaper. Tag it based on your interests.
• Neighborhood: Create a local group on the fly. Publish local for locals.
• Share: Trade newspapers with you neighbors. My WSJ for your San Jose Merc.
• Give: Recycle everything. Post you stuff to give away.
• Sell: Ok, you could also post Want Ads.
• Hire: Local help for local projects.
• Inform: Tell people what's going on.
• Events: local parties, sales, music...

• Click Create new
  account. Any your on your way.
• All new accounts are setup as Newcomers. This allows you to Vote, Invite, Create Postings, Wikis, Events and Links.
• Earn 60 (sixty) Points and you are Promoted to Guest. This gives you the ability to create a greater variety of content, like events and want-ads (posts).
• Under Development: Author - Earn 100 points and you are promoted to Author. This allows you to set your own Adsense Id and collect earnings when people visit your full page articles. Currently we have set your revenue share to 100%.
  • Authors can create their own private blogs and thus build their own readership. Blogs (private articles) cost PhatPoints, where Wikis (community articles) earn PhatPoints.
  • Soon to come: Purchase of PhatPoints. This is the part under development.
