Measure W's Impacted Areas (with Video)
Posted August 12th, 2008 by James Jonas
Measure W, also known as the Two-Thirds Amendment, on the November 2008 ballot, was purported to be creating an "Open Space Vote." After closer examination, this charter amendment to the Redwood City Charter may impact a large number of developed lands. The language in Measure W protects RV and Boat parking spaces (Docktown Marina), limits the building of docks (Redwood Shores), devalues homes (Seven homes on Valota Road and Madison, Docktown Marina, Redwood Shores), encumbers a church (Fully Alive Community Church), curtails our county government's ability (San Mateo County) to decide where to build a new jail, and much, much more. In this chapter, we attempt to catalog the stories of the people, organizations and properties affected by Measure W. All our statements are opinions and we are not lawyers. However, we found legal analysis in public documents for a number of the impacted properties. We have provided links to those documents for reference. If your property is impacted by Measure W, please seek legal counsel for a professional legal opinion.
